Samantha Trout, MA, OTR/L

I enjoy working with clients of all ages and each client teaches me something new. Relationship, play, mutual respect, and presuming competence are foundations of my practice. I specialize in pediatrics and relationship-based approaches such as Ayres Sensory Integration. Therapy goals are individualized and may include supports for developmental skills, activities of daily living, self-regulation, independent living skills, and community participation.

When not doing my clinical work, I spend time with my son and cats, read, hike, and play board games.

OUR STORY AND VISION

Rain Cloud

I am a Neurodivergent individual and come from a Neurodivergent family. Throughout my career as an occupational therapist, I questioned traditional and harmful practices in healthcare and education: a belief that the therapist is the "expert", emphasis on compliance, and unfamiliarity with disability and inclusion. These practices ignore the lived experience of our clients with disabilities and their families. I seek to provide a different service model, where my clients feel understood and respected as individuals, and I can better advocate for change.

Acceptance Occupational Therapy strives to provide relevant, meaningful support that are informed by the client's strengths and goals. Providers presume competence, value differences, respect autonomy, and advocate for inclusion.
